Omis Cetina canyon

Omis, located between the blue sea and harsh mountains rock, where the Cetina River runs into a sea. Historical city center with its stone streets still lives on difficult to conquer rock which served as the shelter for pirates. Omis is picturesque town with real Mediterranean atmosphere. Fortica was primarily used as a shelter in the event that Omis was surrounded by enemies.

Fortica fort, a tower at the top of Omis Dinara, from there you can see the whole town the Cetina river canyon and the islands of Brac, Hvar and Solta. That was a great vantage point for local pirates who used it to control the surrounding sea and land area 

Fortress Mirabela is located just 5 minutes’ walk from Omis old town.The Mirabela fort rising 245 meter above the town is also must-see experience. It was built in 13th centuries and for long time it offered a reliable defense to Omis pirates.
